Mike Lahr5 StarI applaud Johnstone Supply for NOT selling to the general public and non licensed contractors. As a wholesale supply house your commitment to sell only to properly licensed contractors protects the industry and the public on many levels. Public safety is but one reason.
The licensed contractor makes extensive investments in education, training, tools and equipment to provide proper quality service to the public, and a loyal customer base to their wholesalers. The wholesaler makes extensive investments in an operation to provide knowledge and access to manufactures and their goods. and a consistent supply line of trade specific materials to the licensed contractor for resale. To sell to the general public and unlicensed contractors undermines the system and puts all that at risk.Thursday 7th April 2016
Brian Bailey2 Star"Specialty trade" Specialty in HACKS maybe. If we homeowners could get an honest price and work that just hinted at professionalism and attention to detail it wouldn't be a problem. But this drives guys like me to just do it ourselves. My unit isn't cooling well. oh, you need a new coil. Slap it in half a$$ and charge $2000 for 4hrs work and not even bother to check airflow or static pressure of the system. Static pressure= deer in the head light response. Most of the HVAC industry is a total HACK and rip off. 2 stars because I need a license to replace some flex duct. C'monMonday 24th April 2017
wg clare1 StarThey sale blowers to contractors only. WHAT A JOKE.
Their reasoning, "if we sale a part to someone who isn't a contractor and they install it incorrectly it could blow up or burn down the house."
With that reasoning we shouldn't sell food to people because they might choke or sell car parts because people might blow up cars too.
Way to go Unions( aka contractor organizations), you once again found a way to undermine the American spirt of self sufficiency and found a way to make sure you squeeze your fellow American.
We'll done Johnston Suppliers, you've joined the ranks of liberals who wave the flag but actively find ways to usurp American values.

Kim Geoffroy1 StarCalled Johnstone Supply looking for a part to repair oil burning furnace. Minor part. Am a licensed home improvement contractor. Johnstone mgr Emilio said that since I was not an hvac contractor, I couldn't purchase. Sounds like discrimination to me.... But in the meantime, I offered to do some advertising for them. Hate that I had to give them even 1star. Thanks Johnstone!Tuesday 5th April 2016
Dean Shuck5 StarHVAC is a SPECIALTY trade i give them 5 stars just for turning this guy down. Just cuz you have a home improvement license doesn't mean your qualified to work on hvac equipment its actually against the law...reading is fundamental educate yourself. Good job Johnstone!!!Friday 22nd April 2016
